Apogee Applied Research is seeking a qualified FPGA/Hardware Engineer to assist new product development efforts in our Dayton, Ohio location. Apogee develops and produces advanced signal processing systems utilizing the latest in available technologies.
The Engineer will be part of a team developing FPGA based systems and products, as well as mixed-signal RF and analog products. The systems and products encompass a wide variety of technology and we are looking for engineers with expertise in some of the following areas:
- System development using Xilinx FPGAs and tools (ISE/Vivado)
- FPGA floor planning, timing constraints, compiling for speed
- VHDL coded Digital Signals Processing (Mixers, FIR, FFT, CIC, etc.)
- DSP Modulators / Demodulators
- High Speed Memory interfacing (DDRx, QDRx)
- Troubleshooting and testing high density FPGA systems
- Data formatting and FPGA register level interfaces
- High speed mixed-signal, RF, A2D-D2A design and development
- Use of Linux software for system setup/test/evaluation
- MATLAB or similar simulation and verification tools
- Schematic tools (Orcad Capture – DxDesigner)
- High Speed Printed Circuit Board layout processes (Schematic, work with layout vendors, differential pairs specs, impedance control specs, stack up approaches, PCB material selection)
The firmware tasks will typically consist of initial architecture design, development, test, integration, and releasing updates. Developments will consist of implementing large signal processing designs, firmware interfaces to various IO technologies such as 10Gb, 40Gb and 100G Ethernet packet processing, high-speed A2D-D2A converters and USB, as well as instantiating various RAM technologies, and test simulations. The FPGA Engineer will work closely with and support our systems, software, QA and Customer Support teams in quickly resolving issues as well as planned new development releases.
QUALIFICATIONS:
· BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering (MS is a plus)
· Minimum 5+ years in a professional engineering position
· Must have VHDL development experience using FPGA's
· Firmware development experience, from high-level design through detailed design, coding, integration and test.
· Must poses strong hardware-software system debugging skills (software design is a plus)
· Must be a self-motivated, detail-oriented team player
· This position is working on government related projects and requires U.S. Citizenship
