If you are a Software Engineering professional looking for an opportunity to grow, Emerson has an exciting opportunity for you!  Based in our SHAKOPEE, MN location, you will join the newly formed Instrument Connectivity Group.

This person will lead the embedded software development of advanced connectivity components, such as Bluetooth and Ethernet, for deployment across Emerson's broad portfolio of field instruments.

Flexible Work Schedule – Remote Work Option

This role has the flexibility of a remote work option up to three days a week. Our teams work together to ensure our chosen work schedules enable our creativity and productivity as we serve the needs of our customers.

AS A PRINCIPAL EMBEDDED SOFTWARE ARCHITECT, YOU WILL:

• Help drive an innovative vision for connectivity technologies that will be used across Emerson
• Be responsible for the system/product architecture and system requirements.
• Lead cross-functional or cross-subsystem technical investigations to avoid undesired, or understand unpredicted, behavior or performance in the product
• Educate stakeholders and provide advanced technical marketing/sales support
• Design and develop firmware to meet functional, safety and security requirements
• Help establish new build environment and processes to enable global development
• Provide software architectural direction and advice
• Collaborate with local and global development teams

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
• Minimum of Eight (8) years of related experience
• Legal authorization to work in the United States

 PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: 

• Engineering degree from an ABET-accredited school
• Experience working in geographically distributed teams
• Experience with digital protocols used in embedded systems
• Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical problems
• Experience developing embedded systems and software architectures
